Education

PhD in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (Jan 2016 – March 2020)
Thesis Title : Seismic response of pile foundations in soft clays and layered soils
Important Research Outcomes : Investigated the beneficial role of clay yielding during strong earthquakes; provided the guidelines for estimating the kinematic pile bending moments in layered soils; investigated the phase difference between kinematic and inertial loads and its influence on pile accelerations and bending moments; evaluated the influence of pile spacing and soil layering effects on the dynamic behaviour of pile groups and suggestions were provided for the seismic design of single pile and pile groups using the concept of p-y curves.
Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Geotechnical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad (IITH), India (July 2013 – June 2015) – Score: 9.83/10
Thesis Title : Dynamic properties of sand and coal ash products at large shear strains using cyclic simple shear tests
Research work : The dynamic behaviour of sand and coal ash products (bottom ash, fly ash and pond ash) is evaluated by determining the shear modulus and damping ratio at a wide range of shear strains using cyclic simple shear tests. The influence of relative density and confining stresses on the dynamic properties were investigated.

Thesis Title : Design and analysis of a multi-storey car parking structure

Research Projects

Research Project Assistant, Schofield Centre, University of Cambridge, UK
* 2019 – 2020: Facilitated a series of dynamic centrifuge experiments on pile foundations in soft clay, investigating the pile-soil-structure interaction effects with a special emphasis on pile filtering effects.
* 2018 – 2019: Performed a series of centrifuge experiments for the project titled ‘Innovative design criteria for piled foundations of wind turbines’, for University of Parthenope, Naples, Italy and Enel Green Power (EGP), Italy. A report was produced by analysing the data.
* 2016 – 2017: Performed a series of dynamic centrifuge experiments on pile foundations in soft clay for a collaborative project between the University of Cambridge, UK and University of Parthenope, Naples, Italy. A report was produced by analysing the data.
Research Project Assistant, IIT Hyderabad, India
* 2014 – 2015: Facilitated performing the field dynamic cone penetrometer tests (DCPT) and light-weight deflectometer (LWD) tests for evaluating the quality of compacted pavement layers.
